Responsible Gambling
Gambling carries financial risk. The tools below exist to help you stay in control. Use them.
Gambling is not a way to make money. The house edge means that, over time, players lose more than they win — this is true across every game type and every operator listed here. Any genuine winnings are the result of variance, not skill (with the narrow exception of some forms of poker). If you are gambling to recover financial losses, the mathematics are working against you.
Tools available to you
Deposit limits
Under UKGC rules, every licensed operator must offer deposit limits — daily, weekly, or monthly. You can set these in your account area. Increases to a limit require a cooling-off period before they take effect.
Reality checks
Time reminders that pop up during a session showing how long you have been playing and how much you have spent. Most UKGC-licensed sites offer these; some make them optional, others require them to be set at registration.
Self-exclusion (site-level)
Every UKGC-licensed operator must offer its own self-exclusion tool. This blocks your account from the individual site. For broader protection, use GamStop to exclude yourself from all licensed UK operators at once.
Account closure
You can close your account with any operator at any time. If you request closure on responsible gambling grounds, the operator must not send you promotional material after that. If they do, report it to the UKGC.
UK support organisations
The national self-exclusion scheme for UK-licensed gambling sites. A single registration blocks you from every UKGC-licensed operator for 6 months, 1 year, or 5 years. It is irreversible during the chosen period and it is free.
GamCare operates the National Gambling Helpline at 0808 8020 133, available 24/7. They offer free counselling and a range of support services. The online chat service is also available if you prefer not to phone.
A charity that funds treatment services and research into gambling harm. The website has self-assessment tools and a directory of treatment providers across the UK.
The regulator. If an operator refuses to apply your self-exclusion, delays a withdrawal without explanation, or fails to uphold UKGC licence conditions, the Commission's consumer complaints process is the escalation route.
